Talanu ("we", "our", "us") operates the talanu.ai website, the Talanu mobile application, and the Talanu Chrome Extension. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our services.

  • Account information: Your WhatsApp phone number, used for authentication.
  • Chat messages: Messages you send to Alva (our AI tutor) to provide tutoring responses. Chat history is stored locally on your device via the Chrome Extension.
  • Selected text: Text you choose to send to the chat via the "Add to Chat" context menu. This text is only sent to our servers when you explicitly submit it.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To authenticate your account and maintain your session.
  • To provide AI-powered Swedish language tutoring responses.
  • To generate pronunciation audio for Swedish words and phrases.
  • To improve our tutoring service and user experience.

4. Chrome Extension

The Talanu Chrome Extension:

  • Stores authentication tokens and chat history locally on your device using Chrome's storage API.
  • Only reads text from web pages when you explicitly select text and use the "Add to Chat" context menu or paste text into the chat.
  • Does not track your browsing activity or collect data from pages you visit.
  • Does not inject or execute any remote code.
  • Communicates only with talanu-api.nenosys.se (authentication), chatbi-gateway.nenosys.se (chat API), and talanu.ai (audio playback).

5. Data Storage and Security

Authentication tokens and chat history are stored locally on your device. Server-side data is secured using industry-standard encryption and access controls. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties.

6. Data Retention

Local chat history can be cleared at any time by logging out of the extension. Server-side conversation data is retained to provide continuity in your tutoring sessions and may be deleted upon request.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Clear locally stored data by logging out of the extension.
